intimate america: morning light

Do you associate music with certain times in your life?  I do.  Now when ever I hear Cake come on Pandora, I’m transported back to this moment.

The sun broke free from these clouds at this moment and illuminated this hillside.  I hit the brakes, pulled over, scrambled up a ditch, and photographed for about ten minutes.  It was chilly…frost was still on the ground and the air smelled so clean.  Not the best photo in the world, but it was one of the best moments in the world.

I love the trees in the Fall up North. Last year at this time I was en route to Grand Rapids, and although I despise super chilly weather, the color of the trees immediately warmed me up. I love love love Fall in the Midwest, but the colors are so much prettier up North. Especially when the sun breaks from the clouds :)

And I’m NOT a morning person, but wow, there is something special about that time too.

I defiinitely have a soundtrack to my life. One year, when Meg and I came up to the U.P. for Erin’s birthday, Tiny Dancer was playing and there were red and gold leaves on both sides of the two-lane hwy. making a little autumn tunnel and I had my own, Almost Famous Road Trip moment.

And it’s a great picture… I love the different seasons. I see God in nature.

Amazing time of year! But Tiny Dancer?? :)

Great memory…and life seemed easier back then…
